Just two days after becoming the Patriot League’s all-time leading scorer, C.J. McCollum found his Lehigh Mountain Hawks in an absolute dogfight with Quinnipiac.
With Lehigh trailing 62-61 with 3:55 remaining in the game, McCollum connected on a 3-pointer to give his team the lead. The Ohio native then went on a scoring tirade for the Mountain Hawks who claimed a 77-66 victory on Tuesday evening.
McCollum led the Mountain Hawks with 30 points and nine rebounds, barely missing out on a double-double. The senior guard scored 25 of those points in the second half.

The Bobcats gave Lehigh fits from the very beginning of the game. They jumped out to an early 9-6 lead before a three-point shot by Stefan Cvrkalj and a Knutson layup gave the Mountain Hawks an 11-9 lead.
Lehigh led by as many as eight throughout the first half. However, Quinnipiac cut the lead down to 33-30 heading into halftime.
With 8:43 remaining in the contest, the Bobcats went on a 6-0 run to tie the game on a Garvey Young layup. A little over three minutes later, Quinnipiac took their first lead since early in the first half. Their lead was only one at various points.
But then McCollum went on to score 14 of his team’s final 16 points to lead the Mountain Hawks to a victory over a tough Quinnipiac team.
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday night and will host Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m.
