Barnett Harris and Zacarry Douglas have become the latest members of the University of Delaware’s 2013 recruiting class, committing on the same day to double the Blue Hens’

Harris and Douglas can provide Delaware with depth in the frontcourt. Harris, a native of Monroeville, Pa., is a 6-foot-10 lefty who can play either power forward or center. Douglas, hailing from Fort Washington, Md., is a 6-7 power forward.

The Blue Hens will certainly need help in that area after First Team All-CAA forward Jamelle Hagins, who averaged a double-double in 2011-12, finishes up his eligibility this season.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette confirmed the report via Harris’ former Gateway High School coach, Mitch Adams.

Harris graduated from Gateway last year and opted to attend a one year post high school basketball program at Fishburne Military School, situated in Waynesboro, Va.

He also had scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Duquesne, Eastern Michigan, James Madison, Kent State, Penn State, Rider, and Robert Morris.

During his senior season at Gateway, Harris averaged 12 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game. Harris’ strong play helped lead his team to the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) title.

ESPN.com had him listed as a two star recruit and the 17th-ranked player from the Keystone State for his class.

News of Douglas’ commitment came from a Tweet from his godmother that said, “I’m so proud to announce my God son Zacarry Douglas is committing to Delaware University! Let’s play some ball and of course get good grade! [sic]”

Douglas attends National Christian Academy in Oxon Hill-Glassmanor, Md. Rivals.com has him listed as a 3-star recruit, while Maxpreps.com has him as the 28th ranked player from the state.

Douglas had offers from Seton Hall, Towson, and George Mason. He was also being recruited by the University of Maryland.

Monté Ross’ 2013 recruiting class has acquired some depth over the past few weeks. Harris and Douglas join Cazmon Hayes and DeVarte Watson as recent verbal commits for Delaware. All four will be able to sign their binding letters of intent on Nov. 14.
